BARNSLEY'S leading go-kart venue is looking for the town's next racing star.
Tyke Racing, in the shadows of Oakwell on Beevor Street, has been open since October 2012 and has already attracted a 5,500-strong membership.
The company's karts - which are all electric - offer instant power and torque without the noises and smells associated with traditional karting.
"People who have been down love it," said manager Mel Wright, who has 32 years' experience in the motor trade. "It is the way forward as it is environmentally friendly and the karts are much more responsive than petrol ones.
"We have had kids' parties as well as stag and hen dos and groups of friends taking on the track. Everyone seems to enjoy it."
The track, which has 12 corners, can see the adult karts reach a top speed of 40mph if drivers are brave enough to hold on and trust its state-of-the-art chassis.
Kids' karts are also available for youngsters from the age of six, and Mel has already tipped one of Tyke's regulars to be a future star.
"We have a ten-year-old lad who started in the Little Tykes Club on Wednesdays and his parents have already bought him his own kart. We all think he is good enough to compete.
"We would love it if we can play a part in the development of a future racing star as we have all the equipment here to cater for them."
