STEPHANIE Peacock, the MP for Barnsley East, recently joined an event in Parliament to stand against puppy smuggling.
When puppies are smuggled into the UK, they often experience traumatic conditions, leaving them with long-term behavioural and health problems.
The Dogs Trust have been campaigning to end puppy smuggling for ten years.
Stephanie said: “I was pleased to join the event in Parliament recently to stand against puppy smuggling. Gangs have gone unchecked for far too long and it is heartbreaking to think of the discomfort that these dogs experience.
“Families should be able to trust that their pet is healthy and well, but sadly too often, this is not the case.”
